Utep and NMSU Spring Football Games

The NMSU Aggie football team will be playing their spring game on April 30th at 1 pm. The game is free to the public and will take place at Aggie Memorial Stadium. Fans will be able to meet the players after the game and get autographs.

The Miners will play their spring game on the 3oth of April as well but will be hitting the field at 6pm in the Sun Bowl. A spring bash for all Miner Fans will be held at the Larry K. Durham Center at 4pm.

To check out a preview of the Miner Spring Game check out the work by the folks at Miner Illustrated.

Jess and I took Stevo and Jazz to the miner spring game last year and we all had a great time. The kids were able to get autographs and pose for pictures with their favorite players. This year we are all eager to see who will take the helm at QB with the departure of Trevor Vitattoe. Think this is gonna be a good year for Miner and Aggie fans.

Ray Mickens Camp 2011

Stevo running drills at a football camp last summer

The Ray Mickens Celebrity football camp will take place on Saturday May, 14th 2011 at the Andress High School football stadium in El Paso, TX.

Stevo attended this camp last year and had a great time running drills and getting some great instruction from current and former NFL players. The great part about the camp is the motivational talk that is presented to all the kids that stresses doing the right thing on the field and in the classroom. Ray Mickens is a class act and a great role model for the kids participating in the camp.

The camp is absolutely free and the kids are sure to have a great time improving their gridiron skills. For more info on the camp and other events check out the wesbsite: Ray Mickens Celebrity Weekend sponsored by First Light Federal Credit Union.

Riverside High School's production of The History of Tom Jones advanced at the district 2-4a competition last weekend and will compete on April 9th at the Area contest in Midland, Texas.

4-A Area One-Act Play Contest The History of Tom Jones

The Cast and crew of Riverside High School's production of The History of Tom Jones advanced out of the District contest last week and will perform in Midland for the 4a Area contest tomorrow afternoon.

I am very proud of this huge cast and am amazed at how dedicated they are towards their craft.

David Zambrano was awarded the best actor award for his portrayals of Squire Allworthy and Henry Fielding. Galilea Morales and Kevin Estrada both won honorable mention acting awards.

Del Valle High School advanced with us at the district 2-4a competition. They have a great cast and crew and two top notch directors. They are perfoming the play Ana in the Tropics. Their production is impressive and will be tough competition in the Area round.

Austin High School and El Paso are the 1-4a representatives competing with us in Midland.

We had great support from the faculty and the student body at the district competition and look forward to bringing home another Area championship to the Lower Valley.
