Netherlands steals one from Mexico
Witnessed a heartbreaking loss by Mexico at the feet of the Netherlands today in the World Cup. Dos Santos lifted the hopes and spirits of every Mexican soccer fan with a beautiful goal in the second half but the Netherlands would not go away quietly. A huge controversial penalty called in the final minutes ultimately decided the match in favor of the Dutch 2-1.
This was a great World Cuo for Mexico. Great run to get to the round of sixteen. Now time to see if the U.S. can get the big win on Tuesday vs. a talented Belgium team.

World Cup Madness
Great game this morning between Iran and Argentina. Beautiful defensive display by the Iranians to confuse the Argentina attack but in the end it was all for naught as Messi punched in the winning goal.
Game two of the day is just as good as Germany and Ghana are locked in a 2-2 tie. Live the energy that Ghana plays with. Tenacious attack. Hoping Germany pulls it out to help the U.S. chances of advancing.
This has been a great World Cup so far. I have watched more soccer in these past few days than I have watched in my entire life. Looking forward to seeing U.S and Portugal tomorrow. Understanding why this is affectionately called The Beautiful Game.

UTEP Softball vs. Middle Tennessee
My daughter Jazzy and I spent yesterday afternoon catching our first Utep softball game of the season. The Miners took on Middle Tennessee in the first game of a double header.
The Utep bats came to life after the first few innings and led the Lady Miners to a
5-3 victory over the Raiders.
Jazzy loved playing softball bingo and kept track of all the action so she could fill out her bingo card. The game is a cool way to teach the game and keep kids involved.
The atmosphere is great for a ball game and the facilities make for a comfortable viewing experience. I think you would be hard pressed to find a nicer facility in Conference USA.
If you are looking for an entertaining way to spend time with your family head on over to the Helen of Troy Softball Complex and catch the Lady Miners in action. The next home game will be April 26th vs the Roadrunners of UTSA.
