Baseball In El Paso

The rumor making the rounds on Sports Radio 600 KROD is that El Paso may land a Triple A team from Portland called the Beavers. The team would play at Cohen Stadium after a million dollar (or more) face lift. Sad news for the Diablos
to Alburquerque to see affiliated baseball. This would be a big boost to the quality
of life here in El Paso.

Jess and I love taking the kids to Diablo's games on the weekends and would definitely be fans of the new team if they decided to move to El Paso.
Taking in a ballgame is a great and affordable way to spend time together doing something that we all enjoy. Steve and Jazz spend more time jumping in the bouncing balloon behind the bleachers than watching the actual game but that's besides the point. El Paso has the UTEP Miners but is lacking other sport attractions that you find in similar size cities.

I am jealous that a city like Corpus Christi can have affiliated baseball, hockey, and arena football and El Paso only has the Diablos to boast about. Last year we loved going to watch the El Paso Generals indoor football team play but the franchise folded and we were left wondering if another team would make a go for it in the sun city.

Recently Las Cruces has put a team together called the Las Cruces Vaqueros. The Vaqueros play in the Continental Baseball league with home games held at Apodoca Park in Las Cruces. The League only has four teams and is trying to generate some kind of following with fans in Cruces and El Paso but I just don't see fans paying six bucks to see a team play ball agains the same opponents over and over again. I want to head out sometime soon to check them out in person to see firsthand how family friendly the ballpark is. Jazzy has become a great critic of food offered at sporting venues and Stevo is a master at judging the off-field entertainment.

Hopefully the city will jump on the opportunity to bring the Beavers to Town. The promotions would be awesome. Beaver Bat Night, Beaver Burrito Night, Beaver Beer Night, the possibilities are endless. For now I will just cross my fingers and enjoy kicking back at the ballpark watching the Diablos and the Vaqueros getting a win.
but good news for baseball fans here in the city who dont want to drive all the way
